I am in love with my Ninja CreamI ice cream maker! It blows me away that you can make creamy, delicious soft-serve protein ice cream that has tons of protein (about 20-30 grams) with 3 simple ingredients. My family loves to customize the mix-ins, which makes for a fun treat any day of the week.
To make this chocolate and vanilla Ninja Creami Protein Ice Cream, you need a Ninja Creami Ice Cream Machine. I have the basic one and it’s amazing! My only caveat is that this ice cream machine is pretty loud as it is mixing the ice cream so don’t be alarmed at how loud it is. But it is so worth it since it mixes the ice cream in minutes. You also need to chill the ice cream mixture for 16-24 hours in advance, which is easy enough to do as long as you plan ahead.

How to make the best Ninja Creami Protein Ice Cream
Here is a summary of the steps for making a chocolate and vanilla base Ninja Creami Protein Ice Cream with step-by-step photos. Get the complete list of recipe ingredients, instructions, and nutrition in the recipe card located at the bottom of this post.
Step 1 – combine the ingredients in a high-speed blender, and blend on high for 15-20 seconds.
Step 2 – pour the ice cream mixture into the Ninja Cream pint containers.
Step 3 – cover and freeze for 12-24 hours.
Step 4: Remove the ice cream mixture from the freezer, place the ice cream container in the ninja creami, secure it, select “Lite ice cream, “ and let it run for one cycle. Then remove the lid and check the ice cream, if it is not smooth and mixed well, add a splash of milk, secure it, and select “ Re-spin”.
Step 5 – add your favorite mix-ins and select the “mix-ins” cycle on the Ninja Creami machine.
Step 6: Serve and enjoy!
Top Tips For Success
- Use a blender to mix the ingredients well before freezing. You do not want any lumps of powder in your mixture. I prefer to use a handheld or high-speed blender. You can use a frother like I see many people use but I feel like it doesn’t mix well enough.
- Freeze the mixture for at least 12-24 hours – I have tested this protein ice cream freezing it for 12,16 and 24 hours and the result was very similar except the longer you freeze it I feel like the flavor is a little bitter richer.
- Use the re-spin cycle – I have found that after the initial “lite ice cream” spin, one re-spin, then adding the mix-ins resulted in the perfect soft serve ice cream texture.
- Don’t skip the mix-ins – Although the chocolate and vanilla base ice creams are both delicious on their own, this Ninja Creami protein ice cream is so light in calories that you can totally add a few mix-ins to take it to a whole new level of deliciousness. Just my two cents.
Ninja Creami Ice Cream Variations
Here are a few of my favorite variations for this Fairlife Ninja Creami Ice Cream, but feel free to get creative and customize them with your favorite flavors. These are the ones we find ourselves making again and again. (See pictured above)
- Chocolate peanut butter cup – Ninja Creami chocolate base + mini peanut butter cups.
- Cake batter (one of my favs) – Ninja Creami vanilla base + gluten-free golden Oreos and rainbow sprinkles.
- Cookies and cream (kid-favorite) – Ninja Creami vanilla base + chopped oreos
- Smores – Ninja Creami chocolate base + chopped graham crackers, marshmallow sprinkles + chopped Hershey’s chocolate
Storage
Storing the ice cream mixture – the ice cream mixture can be stored in the freezer for up to one month before you make the ice cream.
Storing your mixed Ninja Creami ice cream is simple, though it’s best enjoyed fresh after the initial spin. If you have leftovers, just place the lid back on and store the pint in the freezer for up to 24 hours. When you’re ready to enjoy it again, take it out and re-spin until it reaches a smooth consistency. Feel free to add more mix-ins if desired. Keep in mind that certain mix-ins, like sprinkles, may alter the ice cream’s color during the re-spin, but rest assured, the flavor will still be delicious!

Description
This Ninja Creami Protein Ice Cream is the ultimate healthy, protein-packed treat you can whip up in your Ninja Creami with just 3 main ingredients. It’s creamy, smooth, and easily customized with your favorite mix-ins.
Ingredients
Scale
Chocolate Ice Cream Base
- 1.5 cups Fairlife chocolate milk
- 1 scoop (30g) chocolate protein powder (like Clean Simple Eats)
- 1 tablespoon dry chocolate pudding mix
Vanilla Ice Cream Base
- 1.5 cups Fairlife Core Power Vanilla Protein Shake
- 1 scoop (3og) vanilla protein powder (like Clean Simple Eats)
- 1 tablespoon dry vanilla pudding mix
Instructions
- Make the ice cream base – Add all of the ice cream base ingredients to a blender and blend on high until smooth with no lumps in the mixture.Note: I do this for each base recipe.
- Freeze – Pour the ice cream mixture into the Ninja Creami pint ice cream container.Tightly secure the lid and place it in the freezer for 12-24 hours.
- Blend – once the ice cream mixture is ready, remove the lid, place the container into the Ninja Creami outer container, secure it according to your creami instructions and select “lite ice cream”. Once the first spin is done, you will need to do a “re-spin. If the mixture looks dry, I like to add a splash of milk to loosen it up before you respin. Then place the outer bowl lid back on, secure your ice cream, and select “re-spin”.
- Add your mix-ins – if you like you can add any mix-ins you prefer. We added some mini peanut butter cups to the chocolate base and Oreos to the vanilla base and it was amazing. Add the mix-ins in the hole formed in the center of your ice cream, cover, and spin by selecting the “mix-ins” button.
- Serve – top with more toppings and enjoy!
Notes
- The base ice cream mixtures can be stored in the freezer for up to one month before you make your ice cream.
- Store mixed ice cream in the freezer for up to 24 hours then just add a splash of milk and respin your leftovers. It is not as good as when you originally made the ice cream but it is still delicious!
