In tonight’s Chicago Fire episode, Carver’s new girlfriend wasn’t a good influence on him. Tori kept him partying out late at night. She never allowed him to stay in and rest.

Carver also didn’t know that she was checking his phone. She saw a message from Violet. Violet was someone that Carved loved or at least used to. Violet was also someone he has to work with, but Tori was the jealous type.

She was willing to ruin his relationship with the others if it meant she kept him. Neither she nor the relationship were going last. She was bound to run out of ideas eventually and until then Carver went to work with hangovers. And he adjusted to their new probie.

The probie wasn’t problematic this time or the time before. It was Kylie. Kylie was practically raised at 51. She was good at her job. She gets on well with everyone. They were all happy to see her return to the house and even the new Chief thought she was a good influence. Chief Pascal found time to talk to nearly everyone.

The only one he hasn’t spoken to one on one was Ritter. Ritter was actually getting nervous about that. He was someone that was universally liked. He got along great with Chief Boden and he wanted the same with Chief Pascal.

Ritter was trying to find an opener to properly introduce himself to Pascal. He found out they went to the same elementary school in Chicago. He was going to open with “we’re both grasshoppers”.

The animal was the school’s logo. He was hopping to build rapport with that when Novak shot it down. She said that was a horrible opener.

She also pointed that the new Chief will see how great a firefighter Ritter is and that’s all that matters. It should have ended there. It didn’t. Ritter tried to book quality time with Pascal and there was an accident.

Pascal left Ritter alone in his office. Ritter saw a medal that Pascal earned. It was a miniature statue of a firefighter. Ritter picked it up. Novak surprised him and he dropped it. It broke.

The head came off. Novak managed to put the trophy’s head back on and she wanted to leave it at that. Ritter was the one freaking out. He didn’t want Pascal to pick it up only for the head to fall off. He wanted to properly fix it or replace it. He was freaking out. And he wanted to do something to make up for it.

It was also Violet’s birthday. They just came back from a terrible call. They needed a reason to celebrate. The whole house got called to a car crash.

There were two trucking rigs that crashed. One of them belonged to J.R. Maddox Trucking. It triggered Severide’s memory and so Kidd looked into it for him.

She found out that they’ve been called to several accidents from that trucking company. They thought the company was at fault if it kept happening to them. They tried to bring in OFI to investigate only for them to learn that the company was investigated already.

OFI couldn’t find anything officially wrong with J.R. Maddox Trucking. The trucking company has been cleared. Kidd and Severide just had to live it.

They chose to forget for Violet’s birthday. Violet invited everyone. Novak also invited Pascal. Pascal never showed up, but Carver did. Carver got out of a date with Tori by saying he had to work overtime.

He went to Violet’s birthday celebration instead. Tori found out about it. She used the excuse of dropping off dinner to check up on him She found out he wasn’t working and went to Molly to cause a scene.

Tori accused Violet of manipulating him. She said that Violet wanted them to break up. She told Carver he had to make a choice between them and that left Carver in a horrible position. Violet felt bad for him.

She apologized the next morning because she suspected she was the reason for Tori’s mood. She admitted she sent a text and that Tori was upset with her. Carver was confused because that was the first time he heard about this text that Violet sent him. Violet didn’t get a chance to explain because she got called to a scene.

Violet and Novak treated a man that was stabbed. The man was being helped by a bystander. A very handsome bystander. Violet didn’t even notice because she was still concerned about Carver.

Novak on the other hand noticed that Pascal moved the statue. Meaning he knows it’s broken. Novak decided to fess up. She took on the blame and Pascal commended her for her honesty.

Ritter was left feeling like he missed another opportunity to earn Pascal’s admiration. And Ritter played a part in the Violet/Carver thing because Carver asked him for help in recovering deleted text messages.

It wasn’t just one message that Carver missed. Tori deleted several messages. Some of them dated back to when he was in Texas. Violet tried staying in contact and Tori sabotaged her at every level. Kidd in the meantime learned the secret about that trucking company. They had “ghost” schedules.

They came up with fake people that they said was driving half the time when honestly it was just the one person do all the driving. They were overworking their drivers. Its why they got into so many accidents.

Kidd found out because one of the drivers has a teenage son named Michael. Michael’s mom was constantly on the road. She thought he was staying with his dad. His dad had in fact moved out of state with his new girlfriend. He didn’t care about Michael or that Michael was on his own.

Michael was found breaking into his dad’s old place. He then made matters work by attacking the sign for the trucking company. He got pushed and injured himself by the truck owner.

Kidd called in a few favors with the police to keep Michael away from serious trouble. And Michael’s mom chose to come clean about the unauthorized driving the company was forcing them to do.

Violet also heard back from that bystander. He was really cute. They exchanged numbers and they were about to start something when Carver did a stupid thing by forgiving Tori.

Kylie also helped Herrmann get new radios by saving money in the budget. She was his Robin. He was Batman. They took on the system together.

THE END!
