Eyeliner with Wing Make-up - Over 40 and Droopy Eyelids (2025)

You want to draw an eyeliner with a wing, but your eyelid is starting to droop? No problem! With the following tips, you can conjure up a beautiful eyeliner with a wing.

Almost all of us women over 40 know the problem: as the years go by, the eyelid is no longer as beautiful as it was a few years ago. The eyelids become wrinkled and the excess skin covers the eyelid. But that doesn't mean that you can't draw a beautiful eyeliner with a wing. We'll show you a few simple tricks that you can use to create a beautiful wing immediately.

What is a wing anyway? A wing is an eyeliner that continues backwards, bends upwards, so to speak. This visually lifts your eye area upwards and strengthens your back eyelashes. This is a very nice effect and gives your eyes a beautiful expression. Many people do this with a liquid eyeliner, but it is very difficult and requires a lot of practice. We will show you how to draw a beautiful wing with a soft kohl/eyeliner.

The problem: With older skin, the eyelids become more wrinkled and everything feels pressed downwards. The skin may also be oilier and eyeliner doesn't stay on as well.

Tip No. 1: Eyeshadow primer

Dab your eyelid with a tissue to remove any oily residue. If you use an eye cream in the morning, make sure it is absorbed properly so that the color can stay on your eyelid. And most importantly, use an eyeshadow primer first. This way, your eyeliner will stay on much better and won't smudge.

Tip No. 2: The eyeliner color

Don't use black eyeliner , as it looks too harsh. Instead, use a dark, neutral shade that is a little lighter than black, e.g. the Kajal/Eyeliner Aubergine 129. This looks softer, but still emphasises your eyes beautifully.

Tip No. 3: Make up the wing

First, draw your eyeliner normally along the upper lash line, but don't start at the very front corner of your eye, but rather where your pupil begins. Then, at the last outer lash, curve steeply upwards. It is important that you go very steeply upwards, because that is the only way to get the beautiful lifting effect. Apply the wing in small, short strokes, not as a continuous line. If you now draw your eyes/eyebrows up, the wing will look very steeply upwards and unnatural. However, if you look straight ahead normally, it will look completely natural.

If you have problems applying the eyeliner, use the pencil as a stamp. You stamp your eyeliner where you want it. When applying make-up, make sure that you do not pull your eyes upwards, but look straight ahead into the mirror as normal. The drooping eyelid is practically ignored and stamped over.

If you now pull your eyes up, you will probably have gaps in the wing due to the drooping eyelid. In the following picture you can see the comparison; in the upper picture the eyeliner looks normal, in the lower picture the eyes are pulled up and the wing goes up very steeply, is patchy and not applied strongly.

You can now easily touch that up. You can pull your eye up or use your finger to hold the skin upwards. You don't have to draw the color through in a line, you can also stamp over the gaps and make the eyeliner a little stronger.

This way you can quickly create a winged look, even if you have droopy eyelids. Your eyes are optically lifted and you look young and fresh.
